Yarrawonga Sheep Races

September 22, 2016

Don’t miss all the action of the Yarrawonga Sheep Races on October 30.

The Vodusek Meats Yarrawonga Sheep Races will be back for the third time at the JC Lowe Oval on Sunday, October 30.

Shaun the Sheep will be the very special guest at the event which will be run in conjunction with the annual Goods and Services Auction and the inaugural Trash and Treasure Car Boot sale from 10am at home of the Yarrawonga Football Netball Club.

The oval is converted to a race track for sheep and what a great day of fun it always is.

The track will only be 50 metres long because sheep don’t usually run like greyhounds but getting them down the track is the exciting part.

There will be six races, five heats and then the big Yarrawonga Sheep Race Cup to see who is the champion sheep of 2016.

There will be a Calcutta auction of the sheep prior to racing. The sheep will race in the minor heats, the AgriSpray Handicap, Yarrawonga Mulwala Funerals Stakes, O’Loughlin Excavations Maiden, Graincorp Handicap and Greenacres Land Management Plate in an endeavour to claim a share of the individual heats $200 prize money.

The winner will then be eligible to compete in the big 2016 Yarrawonga Sheep Race Cup and share in the $500 prize money.

There is plenty of free entertainment including the annual Goods and Services auction to be held upstairs in the Yarrawonga Football Netball Clubrooms from 11am.

Live local entertainment will be featured and K9 Disc Capers with Jeff and his border collie Brodie are back by popular demand, with their fun, high-jumping, Frisbee-throwing action.

Tickets to the large play area with lots of kid friendly fun like the WirraMirra Too Petting Zoo of farm nursery animals, jumping castle, blow up goal posts, hand ball and kicking targets, are only $10 and the kids can run in and out and play all day.

What about the new Trash and Treasure Car Boot Sale?

You’re sure to find a bargain with a line-up of car boots with treasures for sale from 10am as well as food stalls and other market stallholders to add variety to the day.

Come and enjoy this great family day out, for more details please call Yarrawonga Football Netball Club on 5744 3896.
